NIDA Business School Doctoral Student Consortium

March 2, 2018 (Friday) 9:00AM-16:00PM

The NIDA International Business Conference Committee is pleased to invite applications for the Doctoral Student Consortium to be held at NIDA Business School on March 2, 2018 (Friday). The objective for the doctoral consortium is to provide a professional development outlet for senior PhD candidates (third or fourth year students) who have passed their qualifying exam and are in their dissertation phase. The consortium will provide an interactive environment that will support PhD candidates in: advancing their research agenda, publishing their research, finding a job in academic institutions, managing their academic career, and networking with other fellow doctoral students.

The consortium will include panel presentations, discussion sessions, and workshops aimed at these goals. It has been designed to allow for high levels of interaction between faculty and participants. The faculty panel and facilitators will include a group of distinguishedscholars with extensive publication records and experience (see schedule for list of faculty panel and facilitators). Speakers, panelists, and facilitators include:

  • Dr. Hemant Merchant, University of Florida St. Petersburg
  • Dr. Olimpia Racela, Mahidol University International College
  • Dr. Amonrat Thoumrungroje, Assumption University
  • Dr. Danuvasin Charoen, NIDA Business School
  • Dr. Donyapreth Krairit, NIDA Business School
  • Dr. Jongsawas Chongwatpol, NIDA Business School

(Note: Panel faculty and facilitators are still being added and are subject to change)

The consortium will be a one-day event held on March 2, 2018 (Friday) from 9:00AM-16:00PM. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. If you are interested in participating in this consortium, please apply by sending an email to Mr. Wayne Shibata at wayne.s@nida.ac.th. When applying, please include following details in your email:

  • 1) Your full name and particulars (affiliation, department/program, email, and telephone number)
  • 2) A short paragraph stating how you can contribute to the consortium as well as what you plan to achieve from attending this consortium
  • 3) Identify up to two top challenges you face in their current position.
  • 4) Include the stage of your dissertation and a one-page synopsis of your research topic
  • 5) Dietary restrictions (if any)
  • 6) A recommendation from your department chair (Only two per institute will be accepted; due to limited space)

Those interested are strongly encouraged to apply earlier rather than later. In order to maintain a high participant-facilitator ratio, space for this consortium is strictly limited. Thus, we encourage departments to nominate at most two student representatives. Those selected to attend the consortium will be informed by email. Participants are expected to attend the entire consortium.

There is no fee in participating in this consortium. The consortium will be conducted in English.

NIDA Business School Junior Faculty Consortium

March 2, 2018 (Friday) 9:00AM-16:00PM

The NIDA International Business Conference Committee is pleased to invite applications for the Junior Faculty Consortium to be held at NIDA Business School. We define junior faculty as full-time faculty who are within their first three years of their lecturer/assistant professor position.

This consortium will provide participants with the opportunity to learn about navigating their academic careers, publishing, and surviving academic hurdles. It will also consist of discussions on non-academic issues such as engaging with practice/policy, work-life balance, and developing their professional identity. Finally, it will allow participants to develop their professional networks with others who are at a similar career stage. The consortium will include panel presentations, discussion sessions, and workshops aimed at these goals. It has been designed to allow for high levels of interaction between faculty facilitators and participants. The faculty panel and facilitators will include a group of distinguished scholars with extensive publication records and experience:

  • Dr. Hemant Merchant, University of Florida at St. Petersburg
  • Dr. Nittaya Wongtada, NIDA Business School
  • Dr. Kamphol Panyagpometh, NIDA Business School
  • Dr. Roy Kowenberg, College of Management Mahidol University
  • Dr. Muhittin Oral, Ozyegin University
